History of the RMS Republic: The Millionaires' Ship

The RMS Republic, a transatlantic passenger liner, was built in 1903 by Harland and Wolff for the Dominion Line. Acquired later by the White Star Line, it earned the nickname "The Millionaires' Ship" due to the affluent travelers who graced its decks. Tragedy struck on January 24, 1909, when the RMS Republic collided with the Italian liner SS Florida in dense fog near Nantucket, Massachusetts, sinking the following day.

The RMS Republic's wreckage remained hidden until 1981 when it was discovered, attracting treasure hunters eager to explore its historical treasures. Many artifacts were recovered, offering a glimpse into the opulent past of this remarkable vessel.
