History of the RMS Carpathia: From Titanic Rescue to WWI Tragedy

The RMS Carpathia, a passenger steamship owned by the Cunard Line, sailed transatlantic routes, shuttling passengers between Liverpool and New York. However, its most iconic moment came in 1912 when it played a heroic role in rescuing 706 survivors of the infamous Titanic disaster.

During World War I, the Carpathia was repurposed as a troop transport vessel, contributing to the war effort. Tragically, in 1918, the ship met a grim fate when it was torpedoed by a German submarine, marking a somber end to its illustrious career.

In 2000, the wreck of the RMS Carpathia was discovered by the notable marine explorer Clive Cussler, adding another layer of intrigue to its storied history.
